Honeyboy Edwards - Water Coast blues

Also the Robert Pete Williams quote ought to be attributed to the Mississippi Moaner - So cold in China, birds can't hardly fly

I think I saw some old man and he was real good on the guitar, on the chords, and he didn?t sing that good, just play something like that, and I copied some of that and put the words to it. And Blind Blake used to have something kinda in that style. He would play in that style and I thought he was a real good guitar player. Nice chords. Played finger style. - Jesse 'Babyface' Thomas explains how he wrote Blue Goose Blues, interview in Shreveport, La., ca. 1989

A good one to end the year UB, I'll close this thread, and get the quotes oracle up to date. Thanks to all contributors for the entertainment.

Despite the Mayan calendar, humanity made it to 2013 so if you have a good quote from any source (try to provide some provenance, if you have it, we're always  interested), feel free to start the 2013 quotes thread, which will be the seventh year we've done this.

As always the only challenge is thinking up a good new topic title for the year.

Hi all,
Here are a couple of possibilities for the Quote Drive 2013 thread, the portions not in parentheses:
   * from Sonny Boy Williamson--Don't start me talkin', (I'll tell everything I know), and
   * from Bill Gaither--(I'm gonna get drunk one of these nights, and) tell my sober thoughts
For your consideration
All best,
Johnm

I started the 2013 quote drive topic before I saw your post John, opting for one of my favorite Howlin' Wolf songs.

No worries, Mark, that's my favorite Howlin' Wolf song, too--that and "Wang Dang Doodle".
All best,
Johnm
