What's listed as Charley Patton - Magnolia Blues on Complete Recordings 1929-1934 Disc-B Oct 1929 (the JSP set) is in fact Devil Sent the Rain Blues.

Yup, CDDB is the source of most of these types of errors.

Big Joe Williams is listed as singing "Ball Of Twine" from the album "Big Joe Williams and Friends - Have Mercy".
The "Friends" appear to be Lightning Hopkins and Brownie McGhee & Sonny Terry. The song is done By Hopkins alone, to my ears there was no other guitar either.

Cheers

Hi Pan,

The title of the CD includes the listing of friends in parens.  So there are probably other tracks, on that CD, that have BJW friends playing with him.

It's an imperfect world.  ;)

Oops! So it's not the kind of "error" you want us to report! Apologies then!  :-X

No apology necessary.  But you're right, it's not really an error in the context of the CD.

Cheers!
