Mr. James, do you think I'll ever be able to play the guitar the way you do?' And Skip James turns to him and he says, 'Son, Skip has been and gone from places you will never get to' - Greil Marcus, account of a conversation with a young acolyte in Skip's dressing room

1940's (?) Kay all mahogany archtop. Very beautiful tortise and black and white binding on the top Here I'm playing a cover of a version of a Bill Broonzy song "When did you leave heaven?" Fairly chunky "V"neck, 1 3/4" nut....

Now that is nice onewily!

Great job, you captured the feel so nicely. Love those Kay deluxe style guitars too. I play this song when my wife comes out to see a show every once in a while. I figure any song she loves must be a great one. I've also found a couple of simple moves in this song that make a big difference in the bass range. Too bad many of us aren't close enough to meet and jam. Keep em coming!

Well I got one of them too , a nice old thing. Not much good for lap, but it's great for visiting musicians  :)

Hey Wily,

My pleasure, you sure don't need my help, but this is how I've been getting this one done in basic form. You'' see the sliding bass move I like to stick in. I also love coming through that D to G change with a kinda Eddie Bowles sound. I guess this is cyber-porch-jamming to some extent! Weenie style....
