It is a strange reflection on our own society that the country blues of rancor & belligerence should be touted for their sincerity of expression, while the easy-going & relatively innocuous songs of Bo Carter can be written off as 'trite pornographic ditties' - Steve Calt's notes, Bo Carter, Banana In Your Fruit Basket, Yazoo

Tommy Johnson's "Canned Heat Blues" on blues-harp
« on: March 26, 2011, 06:07:09 PM »
I did this cover of the great Tommy Johnson's tune just playing with myself (first takes both on guitar and dubbed harmonica), in the key of D. I've enclosed the recording on my album "Some Hot Blues Harp - Jazz Classics for Amplified Harmonica", mainly devoted to covers of early Louis Armstrong's tunes (free download at http://solo-blues.blogspot.com/). I did the utube clip with old, 1930's pictures by master Walker Evans.
