Hi all,
"Stop Cryin' Blues" is another of the songs that Memphis Willie B. accompanied out of G position in standard tuning with a racked harmonica.  It is a chorus blues of the type that Willie B. most often played.  Here is "Stop Cryin' Blues":

I bought you a brand new shoe, give you knitted stockin' to wear,
Send you downtown to the beauty parlor so you have good curly hair
REFRAIN:  But you just keep on cryin', you ain't never satisfied
You gon' keep on cryin', I'm gonna pack my things and ride

You know I love you, did all I could do
Behind kind treatment you won't be true
REFRAIN:  Now, you keep on cryin', you ain't never satisfied
You gonna keep on cryin', I'm-a pack my things and ride

   SOLO

You leave me lonesome, you leave me all alone
You go out big-timin', mistreatin' your home
REFRAIN:  And just keep on cryin', you ain't never satisfied
You gonna keep on cryin', I'm-a pack my things and ride

Lord, I love you, baby, look like you want to treat me wrong
You gonna keep around this mornin', baby, and find me gone
REFRAIN:  And just keep on cryin', you ain't never satisfied
You just keep on cryin', I'm gonna pack my things and ride

   SOLO

All best,
Johnm

Hi all,
The last two titles remaining from "Introducing Memphis Willie B." that have not already been transcribed in this thread are "Mailman Blues", from Sleepy John Estes, and "Everyday I Have the Blues", from Memphis Slim (Peter Chatmon).  Willie B. sings a couple of verses on "Mailman Blues" that were not on Sleepy John's recording, and that Sleepy John may have sung in performance or that Willie B. may have come up with on his own.  Willie B. accompanies himself out of G position in standard tuning, with harmonica played off a rack.  Here is "Mailman Blues":

Mr. mailman, please stop by my house today
Mr. mailman, please stop by my house today
I want to hear from my baby, and I want to hear from her right away

Look like if she wouldn't write me, look like she would send me a telegram
Look like if she wouldn't write me, look like she would send me a telegram
And ev'y time I run across her mind, look like she would want to know just where I am

   SOLO

Reason I ain't gettin' no letter, let me tell you what it's all about
Reason I ain't gettin' no letter, let me tell you what it's all about
You know, I b'lieve he gettin' drunk, leave my letter up at somebody else's house

   SOLO

I ain't gonna write no more letters, I ain't gonna send no message by nobody else
I ain't gonna write no more letters, send no message by nobody else
Lord, in a few more days I'm gonna see her for myself

Memphis Willie B. backs himself with a flat pick on "Everyday I Have The Blues", and his accompaniment is excitingly effective.  In a way, the call-and-response aspect of the music is even more pronounced with the flat-picked back-up, for it is like another voice, without the full chordal sound that finger-picking generally provides.  Willie B. gives the vocal his all, as was his way.  Here is "Everyday I Have The Blues":

   Ev'yday, ev'yday I have the blues
   Ev'yday, ev'yday I have the blues
Drop my bad luck and troubles, but it's you I hate to lose

Nobody love me, nobody seem to care
Nobody love me, nobody seem to care
Talkin' 'bout hard luck and trouble, I swear I have had my share

   SOLO

   I b'lieve I'll pack my suitcase, I b'lieve I'll move on down the line
I b'lieve I pack my suitcase, b'lieve I'll move on down the line
Ain't no need of me worryin', ain't no need of cryin'

So now good-bye, baby, I ain't got no more to say
So now good-bye, I ain't got no more to say
Oh, the next man you got, baby, you won't treat him this-a-way

All best,
Johnm

"Everyday I Have the Blues", from Memphis Slim (Peter Chatmon).
Who first recorded it under the tile of "Nobody Loves Me" for Miracle in 1947 with an alternative take being issued on Federal some time later under the title of "Every Day I Have The Blues".

Thanks for the additional information, Bunker Hill.  It's hard for me not to think of "Every Day I Have The Blues" as a B.B. King number.  At the stage of his career when I first saw him perform (late '60s), he opened every show with that song.
All best,
Johnm

Hi all,
It really is amazing what is up on youtube now.  I was able to find performance links for every song in this thread.  If you've never listened to Memphis Willie B., here is your chance.
All best,
Johnm
