* Weenie's CD!

...in a car wreck in a little town called Mound Bayou Miss. I was visiting my mother. I drove 700 miles from Chicago. I was okay but on the return I fell asleep at the wheel. I was playing again the next day though. I never gave up. It cut my arm clean off and left it in the highway. Then I walked 2.5 miles to a girlfriend and picked up my arm and brought it on to Clarksdale. When the ambulance men come with stretchers, I was in bed smoking, so I drove back in front with the guys. I was in hospital for three days only. For a while I still had pain at night. As you know, fever rises at night and that's how it was - Big John Wrencher on losing his arm

Henry Townsend - Cairo Blues

The Henry Townsend record is really tremendous. He's joined by Mike "Backwards Sam Firk" Stewart on most tracks and there's an occasional, slight clash of harmonic sensibilities, but overall just a great blend. Henry Brown play piano on one track and Townsend's wife Vernell offers some vocals on another. Townsend mostly plays guitar throughout (piano on two tracks, one of which, "She Walked Away" is wonderfully greasy). A high intensity record of subtle material, with great singing and playing and foot-stomping.

The record has a great version of Cairo Blues, a really, really cool version of Tired of Being Mistreated. On the Adelphi/Genes/Blues Vault series.

Don't know if this is the correct place but two of the listed Lightnin' Hopkins tracks from the Sittin' In With compilation are actually sung by L C Williams with Hopkins on guitar namely:

Fannie Mae
So Sorry

Can only assume they are misattributed on the CD, doesn't even sound like Hopkins :(

That's a tough one Bunker --- since the focus of the CD is Hopkins -- I think I'll leave it alone.
