Scott Dunbar/Ahura Mazda Discographies

since Scott Dunbar (and Ahura Mazda) were on my list of things to do anyway, I took the 'opportunity' of this thread ...

Stefan, I was running around on a Saturday night tagging stuff and noticed the above links don't work. At first I thought it was a used Nipponese car dealer spoofing your ID  :)

The entire site has reported a 404 since the 26th. This has been raised at other internet blues discussion boards.

My emails to him just bounce back. To paraphrase a Barbara Lynn song "when you lose me, you lose a good thing" and perhaps shows just how all of us rely upon Stefan's amazing industry and undoubtedly take it all too much for granted.  :(

I hope he's ok.  For me, Stefan's site is one of the little pleasures that makes life worth living.

Since both email and his site are down -- it sounds like it might be his host having problems.  (As opposed to forgetting to renew one's domain name.)

The domain wirz.de is pingable so it is up, but it might be that the web server has some problems at the host verio.de. If it takes too long there is a support site: http://hosting.verio.de/support.html.

When this message is given for the top domain "Forbidden. You don't have permission to access / on this server." it usually means a permissions problem with the web server. Can be a result of upgrades.

I sent him an e-mail re: our concerns and it didn't bounce back, so maybe he'll post to let us know what's going on.

sorry to be the cause of your concern, but I'm pretty well, but my bank account ain't  >:D
... to the effect that I sometimes have to decide whether to pay my landlord OR my provider  >:D >:D
...and I beg you to accept that that ain't no kind of PLAYING with anyone's nerves (this last remark goes especially to Patrice Ch.)

... and elsewhere I added the following: Guess why I have/had this "Donate" button on each and every page of my site (which - with one single exception - nobody ever did "hit") ?  >:D >:D >:D >:D

and one last thing: My e-mail adress wirz@wirz.de is temporarily closed because of the temporary closure of www.wirz.de, but my other adress wirz.hannover@t-online.de is (still) functioning !

Something we can do to help? Guess we can't get to that donate button now. Will check that out when the site is back. That is a great resource that should be available.

Stefan:

I just visited your website and I couldn't see a PayPal donation link on the 5-6 individual pages I looked at.

Is it me, or did you remove those links?

... just go to the initial bla in red letters about "This discography is a non-commercial labor-of-love ..."; on the right side of it you'll find my charming likeness, under which there's the button you've been looking for --- good luck >:D

looks something like this:

Stefan, happy to to see the site is back up. One thought: your Paypal Donate button takes you to a Paypal page in German only, with no option that I can see to switch to English. An option in English would perhaps yield some more donations.

I do not get the paypal button on the bla page... I found one though, on the Double-Neck Guitar page. Aber mein Deutsch ist etwas eingerostet und... W?re es m?glich, eine englische Option? Alte chinesische Sprichwort: "Niemals machen es schwer f?r die Menschen zu gibst du ihnen Geld"  ;)

Can we German-speakers have that in Chinese please? ;)

The mechanics of PayPal are beyond me, but I'll just add, that if you happen have a PayPal account and log in, the PayPal pages will automatically detect your chosen language and change it accordingly.

Cheers

不要使它難為了人能給您他們的金錢

Please excuse my pronunciation.

For anyone wondering the original quote was: "Never make it difficult for people to give you their money". I have lived by this maxim and it's stood me in good stead. Or at least it was supposed to say that, that was what the online translation site spat out. I was hoping at the very least it was decipherable.  :)

Well, I guess I'm left with no other choice, but to demand that Stefan translates all of his site to Finnish as well... ;)

(Pan, I know, it sucks that many or most English native speakers are so lousy at languages, self included. I lived in D?sseldorf for a few years back in the late 70s but haven't spoken a word of German since)

Well I got my donation in.

Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway) the mods and admins at WC.com urge all weenies with cash to spare donate now to help keep the Wirz discography site on line.

I will point out that I would personally be perfectly comfortable with Paypal in French.  :P  But my German translator is currently out of town.

I would offer, Uncle Bud, but you really couldn't afford me!  ;)
