Richard, it sounds like a business opportunity to me.  Find a computer geek on the island and start your own ISP.  He does the technical stuff and you bankroll it. ;)  You're what, thrity miles from France?  Better idea is to talk a French company into competing  - those microwave dishes and towers don't work too well in storms - but your ISP seems to have one continuous 'storm'.

Apologies to Richard and those tuning in to listen to his shows.  For some reason Wednesdays's "Weenie Hour" is hanging the Juke - so I'll need to rebuild those events and try them again next week.

core switch has failed. It is currently running on the backup fan.

We have secured a new fan to replace the failed one. We would like to
swap it out as soon as possible. The maintenance window will take
place between 1:00-3:00 AM. The actual downtime will be around
10-20 minutes, but most likely less.

D'y think it might me worth doing a "Juke is down" page for posting (or perhaps some kind of timed redirect) during maintenance?

I just spent about half an hour learning how little I know about the script here.  Just FYI, I attached a jpg of it as a sample of something you could probably do a whole lot faster and better.

Anyway, since the Juke is getting regular hits now, it's a thought...

I think that would be a good idea, so that a giant message flashes up when attempting to log onto the juke when it having one of it's maintenance windows. Oh, yes the terminology :P

Although, I guess that young Slack might be one who is doing the actual mechanics of the said flashing  :-X

Hi Guys,

Hopefully, any maintenance can be done in a few minutes at a time and not a few hours!  If there is a longer period, I've been encouraging folks to come to the Weenie Juke board to find out why the Juke is down.

Jed, the Juke has been getting regular hits for some time now - you ought to drop by more often. ;)

Hi, Slack.

Seems to be a problem with the 24K juke server.  Both Real Player and Windows Media can't find the file and say there may be a problem with the server.

When I check Juke Status, everything looks fine on the 48K section, but the 24K section reads as follows:

[24K]countryblues.org:8000 -
Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to countryblues.org:8000 in /home/weenie/public_html/juke/scstats/shoutcast.class.phps on line 38
Connection refused (111).

Pity -- I just requested 2 songs.
