That's because they stayed connected to the 48k server (located in CA) - even though the source (my house) was lost.

Looks like the server may be down.

I was in the woods without e-access last week, no Juke but at least I had 600 blues tunes on my iPod to choose from.

Quick question, who or what is Whinin' Boy???
Got the name, still workin' on the licks!

Yep, I cannot connect to the server remotely either.  I'll be home for lunch in an hour or so and will investigate.

Thanks.

FYI, a stuck router.... which happens occasionally with these home consumer model routers.

Our 48K streaming server is down for some reason.  I'm in contact with our streaming host and it will hopefully be resolved soon.  The 24K stream is working fine.

Thanks,
slack

I've had a couple of reports that the Temp server is not as good as our Original server.  Not sure what the host is dealing with but here is a message received today titled "Cogent vs Level 3 Dispute" (I have not read the article yet).

---snip---
Dear ViaStreaming.com Customer,

As you probably know, we have been having major problems with our United States servers in recent days because of the ongoing situation with Cogent, which is our datacenter?s bandwidth provider, and Level(3). We are currently working on a solution for this problem. Please bear with us in this time as we are evaluating every possible solution to get all of our customers back up and running on their normal servers promptly. However, we are setting up temporary accounts for all customers who request them as we don?t know the timeframe that this problem will be resolved. If you would like a temporary account, please contact ViaStreaming.com support by e-mail at support@viastreaming.com with your server address and we will set you up a temporary account. For more information on the Cogent and Level(3) problem, please go to this website: http://news.com.com/Network+feud+leads+to+Net+blackout/2100-1038_3-5889592.html?tag=nefd.top

Best Regards

And for some more reading on the dark side of the net, check out an article titled Zombie Hunters (on the trail of Cyber-extortionists) in this weeks issue of the New Yorker, detailing the use of bot-nets to cripple online businesses and extort ransoms from them.

This looks as though it will be with us for some time. I hope the Juke can struggle through.

HI Boots,

Looks like they got it resolved -- so I'll try moving back to our old server later today.  Are you still getting buffering problems with the Temp server?

---snip---
Dear ViaStreaming Customers,
Level 3 has restored most of their peering sessions with Cogent at this time. Many Internet users confirmed that traffic between the two large wholesale providers is flowing again;
The problem affected about 15 percent of the Internet, according to estimates. Also, users of Time Warner\'s RoadRunner high-speed Internet service were experiencing problems connecting to users and Web sites on the Cogent network, however the issue had been fixed.
