« on: March 03, 2007, 01:40:13 AM »
This was emailed to me by Robert Riesman and pass on for those who might be in the vicinity of Old Town School of Folk Music, 4544 North Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60625 next month.
============================
Thought you might want to see that the Old Town School is launching its 50th anniversary season with a tribute concert to Big Bill. Bill was the featured performer at the school's opening night on December 1, 1957.

Featuring Devil in a Woodpile, Mark Dvorak, Dave Spector,
Chris Walz and many more!
Saturday, April 7th 7:30pm

One of the great bluesmen (and close friend of the Old Town School?s founding fathers Win Strake & Frank Hamilton), Big Bill Broonzy (1893-1958) actually played at the School?s opening night in 1957. As one of our 50th Anniversary events, we?re proud to present this all star tribute to an amazing guitarist and songwriter, and an early influence on Elvis Presley, The Beatles and many others.
