...I can think that, well... my voice will change, I'll be John Hurt on this song, I'll be Skip James on that one, I'll be Tommy McClennan on that one. How many voices you got? They're going one style, one kind of sound from their area, and singing in their voice - Jerry Ricks, Port Townsend 97

Joe seems a little distracted on this one.

Come Home To Me Baby
Ain't A Gonna Lie To You

Standard in D
???????????????????????
I've a brown-skin baby won't have to work
I've a brown-skin woman she don't have to work
So I told my, yeah, you're walk 'round my knees

Well I'm just like a rabbit he ain't got no den, doggone (ah well I'm)
Ain't (?)
(I was?) slippin' and a-dodgin' holes(?) ain't never been

Says good of your folks says oh you won't run
What good is your for get so it won't run
What ya need with a woman ya call her and she won't come

Well sittin' down thinking and the blues creeped down on me
(Well) I'm sittin' down thinking blues on..
(Well I) sittin' down thinking where I want to be

Well a-where were you when the Jim deal left the town?
Oh a-well where were you when the Jim Deal left the town?
Far as I can (?) see when the poor thing turn around

(?) city and the poor thing turned around

(Well) me and my baby walkin' round the road
I seed my baby walkin' down the road
Says she goin' through places I ain't never know

Oh the take me try me one more time
Oh take me, try me one more
Well I believe to my soul I can't change your mind

(spoken)
Sound pretty good!

Says my mother told me an' daddy told me, too
Well my mother told me daddy told me, too
Some of these brown-skin women gonna be the death of you

I was sittin' down thinkin' I heared my doggy bark
I was sittin' down thinking and I heared my doggy bark
Says some low down joker sitting 'round in the dark
????????????????..

I thought this one had been done, but the title thing is SO confusing. It hasn't, so here it is.

Fare You Well Blues
Ain't A Gonna Lie To You (Fat Possum)

Standard in D
????????????????????..
Oh you told me in the fall, you didn't have no man at all
Fare you well, baby, fare you well
Oh you told me in the fall, you didn't have no man at..
Fare you well, baby, fare you well

Oh you told me to my face, you had a good man in my place
Fare you well, baby, fare you well
Oh you told me to my face, you had a good man in my place
Fare you well, woman, fare you well

Oh you told me go lie down, woman, put on your nightgown
Fare you well, baby, fare you well
Let's go baby lie down put on your nightgown
Last chance she can baby it's you

What is you gonna do, when ya trouble get like mine?
Fare you well, baby, fare you well
What you gonna, gonna do when ya trouble baby get like mine?
Take my spade and pick gonna dig down in your mind

Oh fare you well, fare you well baby, honey, fare you well
Fare you well, baby, fare you well
Fare you well, fare you well, baby, fare you well
Last day I get to be 'round here with you

Close enough.  :P
I don't like being pedantic but wanted to update this one because there were a few things I hear quite differently and the title was wrong. Hope you don't mind, Slack!

Frankie And Albert
Ain't A Gonna Lie To You
Standard Key of G

????????????????????????..
Frankie she was a good little girl
Everybody did know
Said she paid 41 dollars
For Albert a suit of clothes
That's my man, he ain't a treatin' me wrong

Albert went down to the saloon
He didn't stand in no fear
Sit the back, smoke this big cigar
Womens all buyin' they beer
You is my man, now ya doin' me wrong

Frankie went down to the saloon
She called for a can of beer
Whispered to the party-tender
Has my man Albert wandered in here
That's my man, and he treat me wrong

The barty-tender told Frankie
Ain't a gonna tell you no lie
He left here just a few minutes ago
With a girl they call Alice Fly
That's my man, now he doin' me wrong

Frankie broke down Alice Fly's home
She didn't make no alarm
That's where she found her man Albert
Layin' in Alice's arms
You is my man, well and you doin' me wrong

Albert told Frankie
Told her once or twice
If I ever catch you myself a checkin'
I'm surely goin' to take your life
Treated me wrong, now he's dead and gone.
??????????????????????.

It looks like the entire Fat Possom recording has now been transcribed to some degree of completeness.  As many songs have not been entered on Weeniepedia (due to ongoing work on figuring out the words!) I thought I'd put a summary up here so it's easier to find the songs by thread page and reply number.

FWIW after item 31 in Stefan's discography he's produced a matrix of the 1967 Mitchell recordings and their reissues/iterations /retitling

You can hitch me to your your middle "???" you can plow me just like a mule

says I?m standin on the corner, just as drunk as I could be
says I?m standin out on the corner, I was just as drunk as I could be

Hi coco,
I think I'm hearing some of what you're missing.  Boy, is that beautiful singing by Joe!  Here is the track:

1.3 Says, I wouldn't love any woman, says, I hate her GOIN'

3.1 Says, I was born here in Miss'sippi, baby, now I MEAN THE TRUTH (truth pronounced t-ruth)
3.2 Says, I was born here in Miss'sippi, and I'm SURELY TRUE (true pronounced t-rue)
3.3 You can hitch me to your middle BUSTER, you can plow me just like a mule

4.1 Says, I was standin' on the corner, just as drunk as I could be
4.2 Says, I was standin' down the corner, I was just as drunk as I could be
4.3 Says, Uncle Sam came drivin' along, says, he dropped his draft on me

5.3 Says, I may not never, may see in your face no more

All best,
Johnm

I think in 3.1 and 3.2 he sings the common "easy to rule" phrase, usually preceded by "I was born in the country". It is also usually rhymed with "drive (or ride or...) me like a mule". I've been singing it lately in "James Alley Blues".

3.1 Says, I was born here in Miss'sippi, baby, now I'M EASY TO RULE
3.2 Says, I was born here in Miss'sippi, and I'm SURELY EASY TO RULE (the "surely easy" elided together)

Yes, Wax has that third verse right.  I had it wrong.  Thanks, Wax, for the catch.
All best,
Johnm
