Hambone Willie Newbern wasn't as well thought of in the area as maybe he should have been... when Yank's mother heard he'd traded the pig for a mandolin she said 'Well, that's OK son, this winter, when we're all eating meat, you can eat that mandolin' - Yank Rachell, as told by Steve James, Port Townsend 97

« on: October 24, 2006, 11:52:59 AM »
I know it's short notice, but most of you Weenies are West Coast anyhow. Tonight Del and my trio will be sitting in on the Honky Tonkin' Show on Columbia Universities station, WKCR (89.9 FM NY). You can catch it online at www.wkcr.org

It's between 10 and 11:30 pm eastern time. Hope you can tune in.

Hey Jon, congrats. Wonder if the show will be archived, so those of us who might not be able to tune in live can hear it later...

Hi Jon:

I just caught the last half of the show--real fine playin' and singin'! Really enjoyable stuff, so keep it up!

Thanks!

It was a big thrill. It just turned out great that Del got in town early. She's playing the Good Coffee House this Friday. I didn't know it was going to wind up with a big old Hootenany, but that was fun too. Well gosh darn, Live Radio is a blast.
