Did you ever see an unhappy horse? Did you ever see bird that had the blues? One reason why birds and horses are not unhappy is because they are not trying to impress other birds and horses - Dale Carnegie

Apparently the men who sing in that style have a very short life expectancy.

Swooning women? ..or jealous husbands?

Man, I wish I could do that Tuvan throat singing -- it would really impress the neighbors!  (the harmony, not the guttural, that is)

Don't try this at home!

Beaten to death by their neighbours?

(I'm often not much of a fan of crossover stuff, but those guys are great!)

No, all that gritty throat stuff buggers something up.  I don't know, I'm not a doctor, but I'm sure I heard that fact from some good authority (maybe a doctor...).

Great clip though.

Howdy!
Greetings from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  At last week's Blues Festival there was a set by Ace "Nightduck" Woods, a fellow who sings and plays harmonica and guitar . He is a street singer and has been around the Baton Rouge area for years.  Unfortunately, Ace did not play guitar for this gig, but instead someone else did (a guitarist called Mudcat, - obviously not the real Mudcat from Mississippi). There is a you tube video of the Nightduck at

that Baton Rouge Bill uploaded. By doing a search  on youtube for Nightduck I came up with a couple of more videos taken at their performance.
All the best in the blues,

Once again, I've come across something on YouTube that seems so obvious that I'm surprised it hasn't been posted here before: a bunch of Paul Geremia videos dated January, 2008. Here's the link to Tootie Blues

Then check out all of the related links. Gold mine!

Lindy

p.s. If you go to the actual YouTube page, there seems to be more links to the January 2008 vids than shown in the embedded video.

p.p.s. Duh, I just noticed who the poster was--Stefan Grossman. These vids must be from the Guitar Workshop video of Geremia in performance, which I'd heard about but hadn't seen before. Really don't matter what the source is, the stuff is quality. Thank you, Stefan, for posting these.

Riding horses and drinking fermented mare's milk probably has more to do with it than the way they sing.
Puttin' on my Carrhartts, I gotta work out in the field.

Last week I showed the Mongolians to top bluesman, Roger Hubbard and he really loved it.  I must admit to watching it quite a few times myself.

This country blues stuff is OK, but there's nothing like the real thing..... ( >:D)

You're trying too hard Professor.  This is all that you need to do:

Code: [Select]

...the forum software will then embed the video automajically.  ;)

Photos look like Chicago.  It sure is easy to romanticize those times...

Clever old forum software! And there was me thinking I'd cracked this embedding thing! Thanks for removing the rogue additional video!

And now for something completely different. World music gone MAD!

Great clip!  I was under the impression that I posted several clips pertaining to the blues & Tuvan music back in April (but not this one).  Either I meant to & forgot about it or that rascally, old Mr. O'Muck had them removed so he could have the first clips pertaining to blues & Tuvan music.

I suspect the former, but from what I've heard, one can never be to careful of that rascally, old MOM.

Here is what I meant to post back in April:
