Hurt would introduce 'Coffee Blues' by declaring that his favorite coffee was Maxwell House because it was 'good till the last drop.' This is the kind of song that comes with a wink and a nudge. At the Gaslight, the mug Hurt would bring to the stage was not filled with coffee, but with a spot of whiskey. - John Milward, notes from Mississippi John Hurt, The Complete Studio Recordings

Someone posted this link to a Quicktime video over on IGS and I found it amusing so thought I'd post it here:

Worked fine for me - you gotta have Quicktime installed.

Steve is a hoot.... an he is very knowledgable about instruments and their history!

I'll be darn. Glad you folks stumbled across that funny video. That's at Steve's house in Austin. As you can see a photo of SKIP James on his mantle. That guy is a hoot. That's also my brown personal guitar he's playing. I am not spamming but I am part owner of Clarksdale Guitars. I just wanted to chuckle along with yall. If anyone coming along reading has never seen Steve live you should pursue it. Him and Del Ray his better half are both astounding musicians and performers.
