This is pretty cool.  Astounding that this survived 120+ years and turned up.  I've been offline quite a bit so sorry if this is a repost.

Would have loved to hear more than 15 seconds his actual banjo playing, instead of these guys talking about him and discussing race with his great-grand daughter

Uncle Dave ( a generation younger) certainly echoed Asbury.
Perhaps (??) Asbury, a pro, stayed at Dave's father's theatrical hotel in Nashville.

I think that the notes included with this fine collection finally concluded according to his death certificate that he was white!
