Jimmy Holmes returned home after receiving his degree at Jackson State (1970-1974) not to exploit or rise on the backs of his community, but to lead it out of the darkness of apartheid in Yazoo.  He expanded his commitment to his community and the founders of the Bentonia school with the Bentonia Summer Festival.  By invitation, the Mt. Zion Memorial Fund will be at the Bentonia Blues Festival this June--we do not often attend similar events--to raise funds for the unmarked grave of Belton Sutherland.

Check out Belton's video biography at www.mtzionmemorialfund.org/p/the-unmarked-grave-of-belton-sutherland.html

THis is one well-deserved recognition...

T. DeWayne Moore
Executive Director, Mt. Zion Memorial Fund
