PBS Craft in America Music Episode

(1/1)

TenBrook:
Hi all,
I discovered the PBS show 'Craft in America' recently and specifically the 'Music' episode which features several instrument manufacturers and their history and process as well as commentary from musicians who use those instruments. I immediately thought it was something worth sharing here on WC.

Here's a link to watch the episode on their website:

And here's the blurb:
"MUSIC features finely crafted handmade instruments and the world renowned artists who play them including Jake Shimabukuro with his Kamaka ukulele, Joan Baez with her Martin guitar, Scotty Barnhart of the Count Basie Orchestra with his David Monette trumpet, Rhiannon Giddens with her James Hartel banjo, Tony Ellis with his Stelling Banjo, timpanist Joseph Pereira and mallet maker Jason Ginter."

Stuart:
Thank you, Lew. I watched it when it was first on TV and enjoyed it the second time around. It starts off with Kamaka and Jake, so as an aside, there's a PBS video about Jake:

Of course, all of the musicians are worth following up on, but I thought I'd mention this one for starters.
