It is a strange reflection on our own society that the country blues of rancor & belligerence should be touted for their sincerity of expression, while the easy-going & relatively innocuous songs of Bo Carter can be written off as 'trite pornographic ditties' - Steve Calt's notes, Bo Carter, Banana In Your Fruit Basket, Yazoo

Hi all,
Just saw notice of a new biography of Uncle Dave Macon written by his great-grandson.

There's some more info as well as an interview with the author here:
https://bluegrasstoday.com/uncle-dave-macon-dixie-dewdrop-revealed/

And you can grab a copy through Amazon here:

It's quite good. Doesn't have a great deal new to say about Macon's music, really, but lots of wonderful biographical detail and stories.

Here's one for the quote generator from the interview with the author:

He didn?t play with you; you played with him - Kirk McGee on Uncle Dave Macon?s stage manner, from the Charles K. Wolfe Collection

I have a soft spot for Uncle Dave and look forward to reading the bio.

Been reading Charles K Wolfe's "A Good-Natured Riot: The Birth of the Grand Ole Oprey" and could use a little more Uncle Dave once I finish. Thanks for the suggestion.
