What is a blues singer, a good or a bad one? I say he's just a meal ticket for the man or woman who wears dollar signs for eyes - Big Bill Broonzy, quoted by Yannick Bruynoghe in Big Bill Blues, Da Capo Press

my second post

here is a recent thing i recorded, pretty dismal, but it's supposed to be robert johnson. i played it on my new 1.5 tricone. what a wonderfull guitar. don't blame my substandard attempt on the guitar. i'm a work in progress. hopefully the link works, i'm not sure if i know how to do it correctly. if someone wants to help with directions that would be cool if i don't get it correct.

any comments would be appreciated, i'm pretty bad.http://www.soundclick.com/pappad

Hi dabluz,

The link worked fine for me and I was able to listen through Soundclick. Not dismal at all. Sounds good, and the guitar has that great National tone. Someday I hope to own one myself.  8)

Well, you've added and dropped beats here and there, making the phrasing slightly irregular, but that's what RJ does as well, and the pulse never fails to my ear. My first comment would be that you sound quite comfortable enough with this to try and add some singing. Why not try adding in the words to Dead Shrimp Blues or something?

Dabluz, I agree with UB - your playing is to the point that you need to start singing.  Maybe you already are singing -- but just not on these samples?

I'd third the suggestions above.  Get singing!  Can be hideously difficult to start with- but once you get it, its great.  Even with a lousy voice like mine!
