Title: Tommy Johnson's Canned Heat Blues
Post by: Rob Hutten on December 04, 2014, 10:00:27 AM
Hey folks,

I came up with a different arrangement for this standard using spanish tuning, capo'ed way up.

Tommy Johnson's Canned Heat Blues, only worse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_ZQPxmCONg#ws)

Hope Tommy doesn't mind.

I always enjoy it when people like you take a fresh approach to old songs, really putting their own stamp on them.

That works really well, Rob. I don't think Tommy would mind at all, though he'd probably be amazed that folk are still playing his songs 80-odd years later...

Very Nice!   I really enjoyed the rhythm you got going on this one.  When I start tapping my foot then you've got me!

Really close to a version I did years back. Reminds me of Johnson's original and a version recorded by Paul Rishell. He played it in std. tuning. I showed him my version and he commented that it was much easier. He did re=record the tune later and it was much closer to the orig, so, nice job.
