I've been to Hell and back in - I bought a round trip ticket. To Hell, Norway that is. Good little blues festival, but I just couldn't get into the Norwegian band names - Blind Arne Bjornson and the Tundra Gators? - Jerry Ricks, Port Townsend 99

Euroweenie 2010

Spoke to Richard this morning about next year's euroweenie gathering - we are proposing Friday/Saturday 19th/20th March, (later we are into Easter hols, earlier we clash with an EBA event). We are hoping to return to the New Forest depending on venue availability.

Yes indeedie, we are on the case or at least on the net searching for a venue  :)

I might need to recruit a hotel scout for an initial look before coming over to have look myself so watch this space and of course any ideas, suggestions welcome :)

:) Okeh you UK weenies time to pay attention....

First note the date of next years extravaganza - starting Friday 19 March which gives two evenings and the whole of Saturday for whatever you fancy  :-X

I have trawled the net\hotels around the New Forest and have to report that it looks as thougth the The Crown in Lyndhurst looks to be really the only one having both function room and parking. Somewhere plusher would indeed have been nice but that comes at a price, in fact almost double in this part of the world  :o

So are you all happy for me to try and do a deal on room rates ???

Please reply to this thread to confirm your interest and I will contact the hotel next week to sound them out.

Any other suggestions, please do say.

Excellent news. I'm up for it. If you do decide you want a PA, let me know.

Thanks a lot for your efforts Richard.

I was planning on staying at the same place as this year which is just 5 minutes' walk from the Crown, the only reason being price.  But if you can get a mega-deal on dirt cheap rooms at the Crown, I will be easily swayed.

I'm already looking forward to seeing everyone.

Should be fine for me.

And I shall bring a Uke...

Presumably they will secure your special room Richard, with some noisy youngsters enjoying themselves in teh room above?

Looking good and thanks Graham for the offer, let's see how many we are going to get although it's quite nice to go all acoustic.

NS... I hope not, anyway by now whoever it was has probably gone blind... was it the same one as at Bluesweek  :o

That's more like it, Simon. You've come over from the dark side. I remember Graham had a uke this year - that makes 3.  If Richard forgets about banjos and Blueshome sees sense, we'll soon have a ukulele orchestra of our own.  rick218 has a tiple, so he'd be welcome as well.  If only I had some musical ability, I'd be writing out arrangements of some really heavy stuff from the likes of House and Patton for us to perform on ukuleles ...  ;)

Gentlemen:

Please, no ukes. I thought this was a BLUES gathering. This could degenerate into what Weenie Port Townsend has become.

Well, after hearing Alex's description of endless rounds of Beatles tunes played by a house full of Weenies around the dining room table in 11 this year at PT, it gave me pause to read the discussion here as well. Must be contagious across the ethernet.

I suppose we all become too senile to handle 6 strings sooner or later? Or maybe hackers implanted a ukulele virus on Weenie Campbell that actually infects the human brain?

Perhaps the ukulelephiles will soon force a vote to change the instrument held by WC in the Weenie logo?

AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
