Way back in the mid 70's I found the tableture for "yankee doodle/ dixie" in an issue of guitar player magazine. Well since that long ago time I have lost that issue and am tearing everything apart looking for it. As I search, does someone else out there know of this song in tableture form and where I might find it ??? You can imagine how cool it is to be able to play both songs at once.

I remember it being a Chet Atkins showpiece--it's on one of his albums I believe, so you might do a search associating the song(s) with Chet's name. Another place to look might be in the holdings of public libraries with large periodical collections. Once you ID the specific issue, perhaps you can get the issue of Guitar Player in question through inter-library loan.

Check out Chet Atkins tabs at the Fretted Instruments NYC (http://www.frettedinstrumentsnyc.com/chetatkins.html). They have "Yankee Doodle Dixie" listed. Requires the Tab|Edit program, which you can get via free download.

OT, but...I never had a copy of it, but the transcription to which you refer was in a column or article in Guitar Player by or about Johnny Winter. It's in the key of A, if that helps, and it's fairly easy or at least fun to play/learn. Just write out the parts separately, preferably in standard notation, as you need to move about the fingerboard a bit. Yankee Doodle is in the bass, and Dixie on the treble strings. Good luck.
