The Seven Sisters sent me away happy, 'round the corner I met another little girl. She looked at me and smiled and said, 'Go devil and destroy the world' - J.T. Funny Papa Smith, Seven Sisters Blues Part 2
Stefan posted this vid from Wilbert Atwater, a new name to me. As far as I can tell, the only other mention of him on Weenie is on a thread entitled "Banjo on Guitar." Looks like he's a North Carolina guy, so naturally I want to ask Lightnin' what he knows about Wilbert.

This track is one of several recorded by or for Swedish researcher Bengt Olsson in 1971 and 1972 and issued in 2006 on Birdman CD BMR-093. Eight of the tracks were issued on the English label Flyright; the Birdman CD has many of these, plus four previously unissued tracks; one of these is Nobody's Fault. The Birdman notes say that in his younger days, Tillis was a traveling blues player who met and played with Blind Willie Johnson in Alabama in the 1940s. Some years later, he turned from blues to preaching and playing the gospel, and in the late 1970s started a church in a building next to his house in Samson, Alabama. He died in November, 2005, aged 85. The Birdman CD is titled "Too Close" and it's a real nice set (thanks, John, for prompting me to haul it out again). Here's another one off it ...
Good Morning Blues - Narrated by B.B.King (1978) (footage of Sam Chatmon, Hayes McMullan, Houston Stackhouse, Gus Cannon, Big Joe Williams,Furry Lewis, Johnny Shines among others...)
That's interesting, Eric, I didn't know he had written that song as well. I've been listening to Brook Benton sing "A Rainy Night In Georgia" a lot lately. all best, Johnm
