Here she comes! The Black Diamond Express to Hell with Sin the Engineer holding the throttle wide open; Pleasure is the headlight, and the devil is the conductor. You can feel the roaring of the express and the moanin' of the drunkards, liars, gamblers and other folk who have got aboard. They are hell-bound and they don't want to go. The train makes eleven stops but nobody can get off - Vocalion advertisement for Rev. A.W. Nix's 1927 recording Black Diamond Express to Hell

The maker's lucky to have the player, the player's lucky to have the maker, and the guitar's lucky to have the singer and player.  And we're all lucky to have Lemon, and to be able to hear Frankie do his song.
All best,
Johnm

recorded it quick and dirty the other day:

the key of F probably doesn't show any guitar at its best, but I couldn't resist trying.

Fantastic.  That is the sort of stuff I want playing on my car of a morning.  Is there a Frankie solo cd?  If not, why not?! :)

Yes  :)

If you say so, Richard!   ???

Fantastic.  That is the sort of stuff I want playing on my car of a morning.  Is there a Frankie solo cd?  If not, why not?! :)

Thanks, NS.  There's no Frankie solo CD, but the last one has One Dime Blues on it, and the next will have a solo number (a couple others where I just accompany another singer).  For right now, the solo stuff just kind of exists in a continuum with other music I like, so I don't really put a lot of time into it, specifically.  We have one more CD to do after this next one, then I could maybe entertain it, unless I get back into banjo, mandolin or fiddle... then all bets are off!

Wow...excellent performance.

Stupendous singing!

Thanks, fellas!
