It appears no pre-war photos of Son House exist. can anyone confirm this?
So this rediscovery picture below (june 23, 1964) is the first known image of him?

He and Elizabeth Cotten developed a good friendship. He liked her music, too. He told me earlier that if he were to start playing all over again, he would want to play guitar like Mississippi John Hurt - Mike Seeger recalling his interviews with Dock Boggs

So this rediscovery picture below (june 23, 1964) is the first known image of him? Possibly so. I think the next one accompanied the first feature written about Son?s rediscovery for the Rochester Times Union (July 6, 1964). I'm JeffHarris can put us on the right track.
Here is the July 6th picture from Rochester Union:
and one from July 14th from the same paper: Pretty sure those are the first pics. I read a post not long ago from Waterman where he said that the pictures of House that he took in the mid '60s are now the oldest pictures of him that House's family owns.
I don't suppose Alan Lomax or John Work took any pics on their field trips that are lurking around in some archive?
