Hi ninodusty,
I'll try to get what I can.

1.2 TICKLED TO DEATH when you leave this earth, you dirty dog
1.4 NO MORE FRIED CHICKEN you will eat

3.1 HEARSE rolls up in front of your door, you rascal, you
3.4 YOU'LL BE THROUGH MAKIN'[?]

4.1 Bought my wife SOME BANANAS
4.4 Just to play on her piano

5.1 I WANTA BE STANDIN' ON TENTH AND BIDDLE, you rascal, you
5.4 WHEN THEY CARRY YOU TO THE HOSPITAL

The end of that 3.4 line is tough for me to hear.

All best,
Johnm

Hey ninodusty,
The 2nd line starts with "Tickled to death when..."
And the 4th line is "No more fried chicken you will eat"

The 3rd verse lines start with "Hearse rolls up in front of your door"
The last line is "You be through making 10s and 4s"

I think you've got the "bananas" lines correct.

I think the spoken line is a very mispronounced/strained "Oh you dog"

For the verse after the spoken part I believe those lines are "Yes, wanna be standing on 10th and Biddle"

The hospital line I hear as "When they get to the hospital"

Hope that helps.

Lew

Hi all,
I merged ninodusty's thread on Arkansas Johnny Todd's performance of "I'll Be Glad When You're Dead, You Rascal, You" into the Lane Hardin Lyrics thread.
All best,
Johnm

The last line is "You be through making 10s and 4s"

What does "making 10s and 4s" mean?

Thanks

The last line is "You be through making 10s and 4s"

What does "making 10s and 4s" mean?

It's a reference to the dice game craps – 10s and 4s are the hardest "points" to make in that game (as opposed to 5,6,8,9) because there are fewer ways to make those numbers on two dice.

So the implication here is that he was lucky – "making 10s and 4s" but his luck has run out.
