Title: Band Name Suggestions
Post by: wreid75 on May 31, 2018, 11:15:58 AM
My band is now ready to play live and looking for a great band name using the rich lexicom of words and phrases in old blues music.  I am hoping to pick your brains for a great name.  Been looking through Barrelhouse words and getting some ideas but would love the weenie brethern to hook me up with some of your ideas.  We are mix of acoustic and electric blues focusing on the music here that we all hold dear.  Thanks.

Hey, I knew the Woodchucks In Babylon. They were out of Durham, N.C., probably early 1980s and were the the first band I know of that billed themselves as playing Old-Time Punk.

My wife inadvertently came up with a decent band name last night whilst biting into her after-dinner piece of fruit. It might be a bit too 1960s for you though. The name she came up with was Crap Tangerine.

Coming up with a good band name is the worst part of being in a band. Apart from getting along with the others in the band socially, of course. And musically. Not to mention balancing the varying desires to do gigs, and where to do them.

People being continually late, or worse, for practice sessions is a bit of a drag. While we're on the subject, finding a place to practice, that is worse.

I'm working on a good name. Usually I think of one on a weekly basis, but never when I'm actually trying to think of one. When you try to think of one, especially when it's really, really important to have a name, zip, baby. I'd put it off for as long as possible, personally. :)

Ha! That's funny, Phil. It was the only fanciful one among the mix of old standbys and just popped into my head, inspired by the late Fred Gwynn's children's book title, "A Little Pigeon Toad."

https://www.amazon.com/Little-Pigeon-Toad-Fred-Gwynne/dp/0671694448

I'm sure that his books contain many others that are better than anything I could come up with.
