Hambone Willie Newbern wasn't as well thought of in the area as maybe he should have been... when Yank's mother heard he'd traded the pig for a mandolin she said 'Well, that's OK son, this winter, when we're all eating meat, you can eat that mandolin' - Yank Rachell, as told by Steve James, Port Townsend 97

bicycle-related blues?
« on: July 27, 2023, 02:23:43 PM »
Hey all -- I've been invited to be a guest on the Bike Show on KBOO radio. I'll talk about my own experiences as a bike-to-gigs blues musician, tell the story of BB King's epic bike ride, and mention some other blues-bike connections. But I'm also going to sing and play a few songs. The host asked for bicycle-related blues but I sure do not know of any! Do you? There are plenty of blues about other forms of transportation -- I'll do one about walking, one about trains, "Pony Blues," I'll skip the car-related ones. Thanks for any bike lyrics I have forgotten or don't know about.

Not to perform, but just to enjoy – Part 2 is what you want here, 3 minutes in or so:
