And here's an earlier story about him, from 1999 in the Washington City Paper, that's much longer and goes into more detail on the Black Pattis.

Not sure if this NPR interview with Joe has been posted before (I did a search through old threads and I don't *think* it has been) but anyway, it was new to me even after having searched the web for interviews with Joe many times before. It really brings Joe's basement and records to life and has a couple stories I hadn't heard and/or already forgot.

Just stumbled on this recent youtube upload of a mini-documentary on Joe Bussard. It starts out with him explaining how he paid for a swimming pool with money made selling extra copies of 78s to the band Canned Heat. Quite a life he's had.
