I was organizing some files and came across this recording of "Rabbit On a Log" I did in August 2011 and had once thought about posting, which suddenly seems like quite awhile ago. This started out as a version of Lonzie Thomas's version of the traditional song, then it sort of went somewhere else. Played on a tackhead fretless banjo of uncertain but modern origin. A little too slappy, but I was able to come back and listen to it, at least. :P

That's really nice, Andrew. I like the way the singing is right on top of the playing of the melody. Nice time, and the tone of that low fourth string is mighty fine. Well done!
All best,

I'm really impressed. I usually don't go in for banjo music too much, but this is great! Listening to it, I felt like I was sitting on a back porch deep in the Kentucky mountains. Is that where it was recorded?
Keep 'em coming!

This really makes me want to go home and work on that Fireside banjo kit I have sitting in the living room. Great playing!

I normally run screaming from a banjo but there's nothing to scared of here, this is really tasty..

Should have known you were that good on banjo, thanks. I enjoyed it.
