« on: September 24, 2021, 10:44:53 AM »
Hi, everybody!
I'm looking for the lyrics of Arizona Dranes' "He is my story". My italian Ears don't allow me to understand what she's singing.
Can you help me?

Thanks.

Hi Paolo,
Welcome to Weenie Campbell! It is customary here to post a video of any song for which you're requesting assistance in transcribing the lyrics. Here is a video of Arizona Dranes' performance of "He Is My Story":

It's also expected that persons requesting help with lyrics post anything they've been able to figure out of the lyrics so far. I understand that English is your second language, so that makes it more difficult, for sure.
All best,
Johnm

Hi all,
I'll try to get a start on "He Is My Story". I"d appreciate help with the places I leave blank or have wrong.

He Is My Story--Arizona Dranes

INTRO

Onward today I am going, be in my Savior's bright smile
Joy in my heart overflowing, happy am I all the while
Telling the tender old story, Christ and His love I proclaim
He is my song and my story, bless His name

CHORUS: He is my story, He is my song
Sweetly, I praise Him, all the day long
Ever His mercy, I will proclaim
Until I behold Him in glory, bless His Name

CHORUS

SOLO

Out from the blackness He brought me, up to the kingdom of love
Into His glorious presence, shelter me from above
All of the love and salvation, honor and praise to His name
He is my song and my story, bless His name

CHORUS

Edited, 9/30 to pick up changes from Old Man Ned, banjochris, waxwing
Edited 10/1 to pick up change from banjochris

All best,
Johnm

Here's what I'm hearing in some of the gaps:
1st verse, 1st line:
[.?. like today] I am going, be in my Savior's bright smile

Stumped by the missing bit on the 3rd line :-(

Third line of the chorus
[ Given ] His mercy, I will proclaim

Last verse, 2nd & 3rd lines:
[ Into] His glorious presence, shelter me from above
[ All ] of the love submission, honor and praise to His name

All the best, Old Man Ned

I think the third line of the chorus is "Ever His mercy, I will proclaim".  "Ever" is pronounced "Evah".

The second line of the last verse would make sense if it were "Into His glorious presence, shepherd me from above", but I can't make the sounds Ms. Dranes is singing fit "shepherd".

Hey, Paolo, don't feel bad - our American ears are having a heck of a hard time understanding what's she's singing.  ;D

Could the third line of the first verse be "Telling the tender old story, Christ on the cross I proclaim"?

I found this website that fills in some of the gaps – I would suggest "Onward today" as what she's singing at the beginning, however:
http://www.gospellighthouseoutreach.com/fellowshiphall/?q=song-words/my%20song%20and%20story

Homeward today I am going, Seeing my Saviour's bright smile; Love is my heart overflowing, Happy am I all the while. Telling the tender old story, Christ to the lost I proclaim; He is my song and my story, Bless His name.

He is my story, He is my song, Sweetly I praise Him All the day long, Ever His mercy I will proclaim; Till I behold Him in glory, Bless His all-glorious, wonderful name.

Coming from heaven He sought me, Found me in bondage of sin, Out of the darkness He brought me, Banished the guilt from within; Now to His love I am clinging, Gems for His crown is my aim; Ever of Him I am singing, Bless His name.

He is my story, He is my song, Sweetly I praise Him All the day long, Ever His mercy I will proclaim; Till I behold Him in glory, Bless His all-glorious, wonderful name.

Safe to the gates He will take me, Shielding my soul with His love; Never my Friend will forsake me, I shall be with Him above. All through eternity's morning, Part of His throne I may claim, And, with the life-crown adorning, Bless His all-glorious wonderful name.

He is my story, He is my song, Sweetly I praise Him All the day long, Ever His mercy I will proclaim; Till I behold Him in glory, Bless His all-glorious, wonderful name.

I'm sorry to have been slow responding to the suggestions that have been made for the lyrics to "He Is My Story". I picked up Old Man Ned's suggestion for the beginning of the second and third lines in the second verse, as well as changes to the first verse and chorus that Chris supplied. I believe there are only two blank spaces left--one in verse one, where Arizona Dranes strays from the lyrics that Chris found and in the second verse, third line after the opening of that line that Old Man Ned supplied. I think if we can get those two places we will have it. Thanks for any help.
All best,
Johnm

In the first verse I agree with dj that it sounds like "Christ on the" but followed by either "shore" (a reference to the loaves and fishes, or walking on water, perhaps) or "job". Phonetically it sorta sounds like "shorb", but I think the faint "B" sound is from a vocal tap to start the "I" of "I proclaim." also I think the end of the first verse is "Bless His Name", similar to the chorus.

In the final verse the missing bit sounds like "and salvation".

Thanks for the help, wax. I think you're right on about the end of the first verse, and I think "and salvation" fills the missing space in the last verse. Thanks!

Could it be "Christ and his love I proclaim"? Bit of an odd pronunciation but I think that's a definite possibility.

I like "Christ and His love" also, Chris. I'll make the change. Thanks!
