A couple new guitar pictures
« on: December 04, 2012, 01:47:38 PM »
Hey all,

Here's a couple photos of the most recent guitars off the bench here.  One is based on a '29 Gibson L-1 as far as the body shape and bracing goes.. built with mahogany, and spruce, hand rubbed stain, varnish, shellac.  It's got the old style inlay that you see on Oscar Schmidts and the mustachio bridge as per customer request..  both details I learned out at the Fraulini shop.  The other is loosely based on an old Washburn concert size guitar.. oak and spruce body, poplar neck.  I X-braced that one, and built it overall a little extra sturdy because it's for my lil' hobo buddy who can be pretty rough on stuff.  They both play and sound like champs!  Thanks for letting me show 'em off...

Mighty fine work Devin!
I love that L1 with the inlays, and very nice subtle bursts on both!

Very nice, Devin. I like 'em both a lot but that L1-style is really cool. Respect for the banjo collection, too. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Hey folks,

  Thanks for lookin'!

Westside- yes they do sound great.  It's always strange stringing a guitar for the first time and not quite knowing how it'll sound.  It's pretty dang satisfying when it's close to what I was aiming for.

The banjo collection is at the guitar's new home.  I'm sure there's a cheesy banjo joke to go along with that photo..

Great work Devin, I also love the L1 shape, curvy. Here's my take on a L1.

Okay Russ, we need some details here.
Is that a true resonator or a faux?

Fine looking guitar!

Any detail shots showing whats under the hood?

Hi Joe and Devin, havn't got any pics inside my Robert johnson  Tribute L1. It all pretty simple, the well it a bit deeper with the saddle coming up through but not touching the Faux bridge.
