I've 78-version of Sleepy John Estes Drop down mama/Married woman blues released in England by Decca (90175) and markted: Selected by The British Hot Record Society on Decca.

Haven't been able to trace The British Hot Record Society, little less any info on the Blues-78's they selected for Decca.

Can anyone help?

That was the very first 78 that blues authority Paul Oliver acquired.

The British Hot Record Society was London based and formed in 1945, members included Albert McCarthy, Max Jones and probably others like Rex Harris or Brian Rust. From memory they did licensing deals for American Decca recordings for release on British Decca.

Jazz organisations are not my subject but the activities of BHRS are probably documented somewhere.
