Wow - but Bessie Smith spills fire and fury in Hateful Blues on Columbia Record 14023D. Talk about hymns of hate - Bessie sure is a him-hater on this record. The way she tells what she is going to do with her "butcher" will make trifling fellows catch express trains going at 60 miles an hour. The music is full of hate too. You can almost see hate drip from the piano keys. Every note is a half-note. No quarter for anyone - Chicago defender ad, July 1924

Brownskin Woman TAB
« on: May 27, 2022, 02:00:21 PM »
Hi all,  I'm looking for TAB for this song. Or something similar of this arrangement.
I can figure out some stuff but to have the TAB with it makes things so much easier. I'm pretty sure it's in C Position.

John Jackson played it. I think he got it from Blind Boy Fuller in some way.

Thanks for posting.
You must have just uploaded that yourself? I know this version, it's from the Blues Houseparty film.

I found a John Jackson TAB book but it's not in it.

What a wonderful ditty, I don't suppose there are any tabs for this lovely version by John Jackson ? I play the Snooks version, but never heard this before

"My Brownskin Sugar Plum" and "You Never Can Tell" are pretty close how John Jackson played "Brownskin Woman". He must've heard those records.
The Fuller book is worth every penny.
Includes also all the lyrics for the songs, dead on balls accurate, copied straight from Weeniepedia.
