What is a blues singer, a good or a bad one? I say he's just a meal ticket for the man or woman who wears dollar signs for eyes - Big Bill Broonzy, quoted by Yannick Bruynoghe in Big Bill Blues, Da Capo Press

I've just stumbled upon this and couldn't resist scanning the cover.

Dated September 1969 it's a 64 page numerical listing of all Sam Phillips enterprises - Sun/Phillips International/The Phillips/Flip 78s, EPs and LPs (full track listings) compiled by Paul Vernon. There's even a buyers guide section, biographies of main artists as well an article by Cliff Martin on Walter Horton based on an interview he conducted in the UK at the 1968 AFBF.

I've still got my copy. I can remember being really excited at finally seeing a list of Sun records. I wanted them all.

Ora Nelle Villas was a magical place. An ordinary semi with the downstairs devoted wholly to racks of rare records.
