Pick It, Blow It, Play It ... Fill It?
« on: November 25, 2016, 02:30:52 PM »
In the intro and outro of "Peaches in the Springtime" by the Memphis Jug Band, Will Weldon says, "Fill it boy, fill it." In the intro of their next record, "She Stays Out All Night Long," he says, "fill it, Mr. Brimmer," and then later, "now you're filling it."

I've heard musicians prompt each other to pick it, blow it or simply play it, but not fill it. Has anyone else heard blues musicians say this?

Hi all,
My favorite exhortation of this sort, leading into a solo, was Texas Alexander's:  "Have your way!"
All best,

Arlo, he is probably talking about filling the jug!
Cheers, Chezz
