Not perfect, but publish & be damned etc...
« on: March 28, 2010, 04:26:09 AM »
I recorded this yesterday, then agonised over whether or not i was fit for public consumption.
So... I got very drunk and posted it anyway. Actually, I don't feel too bad now, even though I didn't wake up until nearly lunchtime!
Well, here it is anyway. Maybe not my finest performance ever, but honest at least. I think you'll get the gist.

Well done for putting this up.  What's the problem? It's fine.

I'd go with that.

I hope you didn't get smashed simply over whether or not to post it, whatever happens if you do a gig  :-X
(That's enough of that. Ed)

What's with the agony? That was a fine performance!
I think it is more important to preserve the take that catches the magic of the moment, rather than trying to polish things into some assumed "perfection".
Even Django Reinhardt's recordings have these "mistakes", but nobody ever complains...  ;D

Thanks. I usually have no problems about gigs - it's recordings that bother me. The permanence I think, like if you make a mistake it lasts forever. On stage, if you make a little mistake, you can usually either pretend it never happened or use it in some other way.
Yes, "the magic of the moment," I like that way of looking at it  :)
Reasons for publication anxieties? It's a bit personal. But then, I'm a blues singer so personal is to be expected.
