Title: The Second Fiddles - First CD
Post by: Flatd7 on October 23, 2007, 10:30:40 AM
Hey Weenies,

Hope you don't mind some blatant self Promotion!

My little quartet finally put together a CD. It's a "Live In The Studio" type recording that we put together over a pair of evenings this Fall. The WIYOS Joe Dejarnette did some quick mixes for us and we now have something for promoters. We're hoping to get a few more festivals next summer and County Fair type shows.

We're still feeling our way around each other and figuring out what material sounds right for our lineup. Boy it's hard to replace a piano in some of this material. We just did our first road trip to Louisville, KY and played a two day festival with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Jake Leg Stompers and other bands. It's all been fun, but it's a lot more work than I thought. Don't know how people handle the road year after year. It really is a tough life.

Anyway, give her a listen and tell me what you think. Hope you like it.

Jon

Hey Jon. Good on you guys for getting this out. Still workin' on mine, but getting close. Final editing stages, geting the cover together, etc. Sounds like you had fun out in Louisville.

Heading East tomorrow but no chance of getting up to NYC. Any chance you might be coming down to Philly for the Jerry Ricks Benefit?

All for now.

JC - Don't think I'll make it down to Philly. Too much going on with the kids this weekend. Who all is playing? I heard Bromberg was maybe part of it? Did you study with Jerry in Philly?

Keep me posted on that CD.

Jerry was my first teacher at Port Townsend 6 years ago.

Yeah, Bromberg. Ari, too, as well as a lot of other notables.

Well, maybe I'll catch you next time.

All for now.

Great-sounding stuff, congratulations. Come on up the the Canadian Maritimes & I'll get you a gig! It may not pay very well but . . .

It may not pay very well but . . .

They rarely do. It's all for fun. We met Del Goldfarb, who's featured prominantly in "Chasin' Gus's Ghost", at the Jugband Jubillee. We also rehearsed with David Bennett Cohen last night, who was a founding member of Vountry Joe and the Fish and has [;ayef keyboards with everyone from Hendrix to The Blues Project. They're both coming down to sit in with us for our show tomorrow nite.

Damn! Wax. Ari and Bromberg? Wish I could be there. Very tempting.
