If this has been posted before I apologize. I did look but couldn't find it. Amazing, amazing stuff, and a real treat for Dock Boggs appreciators fixing to work on this song. That would be me. It's banjo but Dock's 'Country Blues' qualifies from the get-go for the 'Interesting Country Blues related video clips' thread.

Boy, I'm with you, Rivers. What a spooky sound, and what a singer!

Yep and yep. Then there's that elusive picking hand technique and sophisticated slightly-broken sense of time. He seems very relaxed and yet totally into it. It all adds up to a great performance, thank goodness Alan Lomax / LoC were there to capture it on film.

I've moved my two open back banjos down to my workshop so I don't disturb Cheryl, who's working from home, with my Dock Boggs' inspired old banjo tunes obsession.

Good to hear from you Rivers!  We are so lucky to have a video of Doc Boggs playing this tune.

Hi all,
Great footage of Jack Owens in a rare solo performance. I'd not seen this before.

All best,

Thanks so much for posting that, Lyndvs! Boy, is their time locked. Fred Cockerham just sounds perfect and Tommy wasn't too bad either.

Hi all,
This one came up on my youtube feed. Merle Travis, so relaxed, and unusually good camera work.
All best,
Johnm

Hi all,
There is a great Robert Pete Williams cut from a live performance called "Cows Love Music". Here it is:

And here is a case in point, for those of little faith:
