Now I'm gonna smoke my reefer, drink my good champagne and wine. Said I ain't gonna let these hard-headed women make me lose my mind - Kokomo Arnold, Rocky Road Blues
Decades ago, a fellow blues lover sent me a copy of Fulton Allen?s welfare records and other official paperwork from the 1930s and very early 1940s. I?ve just posted an 8000-word chronological account of the life of Fulton Allen, a.k.a. Blind Boy Fuller, that covers all of his sessions. This account also quotes extensively from the documents written by government officials, student social workers, physicians, etc. They reveal a life fraught with poverty, ill health, and unhappiness with management and, to a lesser extent, record companies.
