Groucho: Are you married? Got any kids? Contestant: Why yes, I have nine children. G (after slight double-take): Nine children!? Why so many? C: Well, I like children, and I really love my wife! That is really nice, Frank. Really pretty singing, and your banjo really shines in that key with that approach. Sort of a different sort of cross-note tuning, sort of like the C and D cross each other. Thanks for that.
All best, John thanks! I'm just crazy about that banjo! for whatever reason, I didn't want to try too hard to harmonize the song. I love the way sam collins does what he does with the guitar, but felt that reproducing that on the banjo wouldn't be particularly satisfying to me.
In the end, I kinda let the tuning do the heavy lifting, so it would be fair to say that I didn't harmonize the song at all! Uncle Bud,
It was done by Matthias Lehmann. He's posted several other portraits on Tumblr; mostly of different musicians and all of them are just as cool. Here's a link to his page: http://mlehmann-portraits.tumblr.com/ Pages: [1] Go Up
