Weenies,

I could use your help on a project I'm working on over at the IGS Forum. I hope no one minds me directing you over there to participate, but my intention was to keep this centralized in one place. I host a lot of House Concerts and Workshops and help roots artists (Mary Flower, Steve James, Del Rey, Mike Dowling, Ernie Hawkins) with tour support around NYC (gratis). As I've gotten involved with this hobby, I've found how difficult it is to book artists we're all familiar with. The environment is somewhat hostile to traveling troubadours. Folk Societies can be very provincial, club owners are cautious and certain venues are just not appropriate for a genre that needs an appreciative audience.

So, I'm compiling regional lists of venues that are friendly to acoustic roots music, primarily Country Blues, although any pre war acoustic genre is game. More than a list, I'm looking for links, contacts and testimonials of your favorite places. Sort of a Michelin guide for the touring fingerpicker. Something that our mentors and members can refer to and make booking easier.

If you know of a Folk Society or House Concert contact, these can be the best options. Any tips you have for people or resources who will help with regional leg work is a big plus.
