Thanks for posting this, Stuart.  I've been hearing good things about Albanie Faletta, and now I can see why.
All best,

Hi John:

I'm glad you enjoyed her singing and playing. The piece mentioned that she played a few gigs with Craig Ventresco while she was in the Bay Area. I ran across a couple of YouTube videos of them playing together.

I met Albanie at Weiser this year. She was in some jams (of course, why else go to Weiser), and was backing up Paul Anastasio for his fiddle workshops. Great player.

I'm a big fan of hers, too ? in addition to being a great player and a fine singer, she has also written some interesting songs. She has several albums available on Bandcamp.

Thanks for posting the videos with Ventresco, Stuart; I'd seen the "Acoustic Guitar" session, but not those. Great stuff!

centrum, the organization that sponsors the Port Townsend workshop that led to weeniecampbell.com, just announced this workshop for next spring. Albanie will be one of the instructors.

If it strikes your fancy, be sure to read the "Who should attend?" part of the page.

Thanks, Lindy. In addition to Albanie, and of course Matt Weiner who I've seen on numerous occasions (Matt will be playing with Greg Ruby this Saturday evening at the SFS show: http://www.seafolklore.org/wp/events/greg-ruby-presents-music-of-oscar-aleman/), another person in the Centrum lineup who I've seen a couple of times is Dennis Lichtman. Dennis is quite impressive. Here are a few links:

The following contain some nice YT vids:

I saw Albanie when she was here in June and opened for Steve James. She was accompanied by Lauryn and Ryan Gould who are both major talents in their own right. I picked up all three of her albums which I thoroughly enjoy and I highly recommend. Talent.

Another nice Albanie Falletta performance was just posted to YouTube ? this one with a quintet.

And if you enjoy this kind of thing, check out Alice Glick's other posts from the Abita Springs Opry and the Abita Spring Buskers' Festival. There's a lot of very fine music on her channel.
