Any tips for composing a blues piece...?
« on: December 16, 2004, 09:44:05 AM »
:-\
I'm taking GCSE music and have to compose something, it can be absolutely ANYTHING so i thought it would be nice to try and compose a bluesy peice? I've had a couple of ideas, but just wondered if anyone out there had any good tips for putting those ideas together/getting ideas.

Much appreciated? :D

The best way to get ideas, in my opinion, is to listen a lot.  Sorry if that sounds kinda cryptic, but that's been my experience - not that I've ever really composed anything!  I get lots of ideas for improvising from listening, though.

When reading this I looked up and read this:

"My songs ain't writ on papuh... them words, they just come to me while I sing. That's a true God-given talent I was borned with. Only real blues singers like me can make songs on the spot. No mutha's gonna teach you that" - Guitar Gabriel, PTCBW 1995 - in a semi-sober moment responding ?to a naïve student who asked "where ideas for his songs come from?"

SPOOKY....
