I said, "You think them blues ain't on this banjo neck the same as they are on that guitar?" I said, "They're just as much on this banjo neck the same as they are on that guitar or piano or anywhere else, if you know where to go get it" - Dock Boggs recalls his response to musicians who wanted him to sit out while they played a blues, Interviews with Dock Boggs FW 05458

I don't think "Tain't None O' Your Business" by Butterbeans & Susie has been mentioned yet. It can be heard on the Yazoo CD "The Roots Of Rap", which also has the The Kansas City Kitty & Georgia Tom song "How Can You Have The Blues?" that was discussed earlier on this thread.

They are joined by Big Bill Broonzy in the Yazoo CD "Do That Guitar Rag" in the songs "Terrible Operation Blues", "Pussy Cat Blues" and "Leave My Man Alone"

Happy New Year, everybody!

A duet in the style of Lottie Kimbrough and Winston Holmes...that would be a hoot ;)

Happy new year all,
