"Crying Won't Help You" was first recorded by Tampa Red in th 40's and was followed by tremendous versions by Robert Nighthawk (and as a "Going Down to Eli's" on the Maxwell St. album).

Buddy Guy did a terrific rendition of "One Room Country Shack" with Otis Spann on Vanguard.

Great page as usual Stefan!

I keep trying to find time to put the JSP 2 - CD set on the Juke... unfortunately, the CDDB online database is not updated with the set, so I've been waiting. :)

thanks john,
after reading your review of sims' music, & seeing everyone else's comments i had to go check this guy out! it's always great to stumble on someone i haven't heard, or heard of before. i got my hands on the specialty release 'lucy mea blues', & i love it. very enjoyable disc. & i just love the rawness & exuberance of these performances. good stuff!
