Hi Montgomery - you can check out a thread on the Calicott disc here: http://weeniecampbell.com/yabbse/index.php?Itemid=47&?topic=41.0

Honestly, it is by far my favorite of the Fat Possum discs I've heard, which are of mixed success IMO. The guitar playing can be a little simple in the style of the boom-chuck variety at times, though there is some nice playing on it as well. But the singing puts this disc waaaay over the top. It is absolutely great. There's a lot of postwar stuff I can take or leave. This disc is essential, IMO.

Hi all,
This thread had not been posted to since 2004, so it seemed about time to remind folks that if you don't have the Joe Callicott on Fat Possum, you need to get it.  Wonderful singing and playing by Joe.
All best,
Johnm

I've had this record for quite some time now and think Johnm is right.

For some inexplicable reason I'd taken ages to get round to listening to Joe Callicott's George Mitchell recordings and I agree totally. What a great voice.
And there's good news for people who want to get a copy, it's currently on sale at Fat Possum if you buy directly from them, don't miss out!

Blues Vintage:
This record for free. That's quite a discount!
