So I asked him to play "Trav'lin' All Alone." That came closer than anything to the way I felt. And some part of it must have come across. The whole joint quieted down. If someone had dropped a pin, it would have sounded like a bomb. When I finished, everybody in the joint was crying in their beer, and I picked thirty-eight bucks up off the floor - Billie Holiday, 1915-1959

Blakes Breakdown - Mike Martin 1976
« on: December 30, 2004, 08:46:58 AM »
Hi Weenies,

Next tune is very much a 'personal statement' on Blind Blake's Breakdown, played by Mike Martin on his Ovation Balladeer in 1976. The tune was recorded on an old portable cassette recorder (not hi-fi) and the tape has been copied many times since - so, the quality is not wonderful. However, here is hoping it gives you a couple of ideas or so when playing this type of tune.

Cheers, take care, and keep on pluckin'.
