"When the waitress brought our drinks, I picked up my beer and proposed a toast. 'To John Hammond, for bringing Son to Columbia Records.' Son looked at me for a few seconds and then shook his head. He picked up his bourbon and smiled at me for the first time all day. 'To Robert Johnson, for being dead!'" - Dick Waterman

I only got to see him perform once or twice and felt like he was a musician, rather than an entertainer, which I certainly didn't object to, since I came to hear music. He was just taking care of business, which was fine with me. I have to admit I didn't know he was still alive, and thought he had passed a while ago, but I guess he had been incapacitated for some time. I hope he is peaceful now.

I kick myself for missing some of the guys who are gone now. But I saw Otis Rush in Denver (30+ years ago?) and he was great. RIP.

Also, what Rivers said. Why on earth does an artist like Otis Rush need to be validated other than on his own terms?
Otis Rush was a genius. For anyone new to this the Cobra recordings are the best of the best.
