Rising River Blues done by Paul Geremia
« on: August 07, 2013, 03:13:11 PM »
Would anyone know what tuning that Paul Geremia used to perform Rising River Blues? A great song and any information on what Paul does would be appreciated!

I know that George Carter wrote it in the '30's, but that is about it.

I saw Paul play this in Detroit a few weeks back and would like to give it a try.

Leon:

When Paul taught this song to us at Port Townsend about seven (?) years ago, he played it in the key of E, Standard tuning.

He did that for teaching purposes on a 6-string, though. He plays it out of E position but on the recording on Love, Murder and Mosquitos, it's played on a 12-string tuned low and therefore pitched around B or C.
